2019 JKA Karate Camp 10-12 January by Katsutoshi Shiina Sensei, Instructor JKA HQ at Dubai, UAE Successfully Finished.

The first day of Gasshuku, 30 of black belt and 120 Colour belts participated and had hard practice with Kihon, Kata and Kumite under the instruction of Shiina Sensei. Shiina Sensei showed and explained us how to practice Kata such as Bassai-Dai, and Jion. We could study the meaning of each Kata’s action. Kumite training was very powerful and impressive. We could have confidence through this training.

The second day, 40 of black belt and 160 colour belts participated and had practice hard with Kihon, Kata and Kumite the same as the first day. Shiina Sensei showed and explained us how to practice Kata such as Hean Series and Jion. and Kumite training on the second day included preparation for Dan examination. 3^rd Day we had Dan examination from 1^st Dan to 3rd Dan, and 17 persons passed.

JKA Shodan – 10 candidates passed
JKA Nidan – 5 candidates passed
JKA Sandan – 3 candidates passed
JKA Instructor D – 4 candidates passed
JKA Judge D – 4 candidates passed
JKA Judge C-1 candidate passed
JKA Examiner D – 3 candidates passed
JKA Examiner C-1 candidate passed

We could finish 1^st Gasshuku successfully. Thank you very much Shiina Sensei and all the participants.

The karate camp conducted from the 16th to 20th Jan witnessed a massive turnout of karatekas and was a grand success under the able guidance and leadership of Sensei Yutaro Ogane

On the first day of the Gasshuku, 30 black belts and 120 colour belts participated and undertook practice in Kihon, Kata and Kumite under the instruction of Sensei Yutaro. Sensei demonstrated and explained to the group on the finer details as to how to practice Katas such as Bassai-Dai, Empi and Jion. We were able to better understand the meaning of each Kata and its bunkai application. Kumite training from Sensei was indeed very powerful and impressive. Our level of confidence and understanding in Kumite on Day one, were at an all new level having undertook this training.

The second day witnessed participation by 40 black belts and 160 colour belts who underwent hard training and practice in Kihon basics, Kata and Kumite similar to the first day. Continuing on his explanation from the first day, Sensei Yutaro provided clarification on some of the techniques and methods to practice Katas from the Heian Series as well as Jion for advanced practioners. Kumite training on the second day included preparation for the Dan examination. On the third day, Dan examination for Shodan upto Sandan was held and 11 Karatekas successfully passed.

JKA Shodan – 7 candidates passed

JKA Nidan – 2 candidates passed

JKA Sandan – 2 candidates passed

JKA Instructor D – 2 candidates passed

JKA Judge D – 1 candidates passed

After a practicing hard for 5 days, the karate camp concluded successfully. We express our profound gratitude to Sensei Yutaro Ogane for having invested his time and effort towards the betterment of JKA Shotokan karate in the UAE. Thank you very much Sensei and also to all those who participated. We also wish to extend our thanks to JKA Headquarters for having supported us throughout the journey and to the success of the Gasshuku.
